Number One Songs from Billboard Hot 100

Below are the #1 songs from each year of the 80′s according to the archives of Billboard Hot 100. Even if you were just a baby in the 80′s, I know that you will recognize at least some of these. I’m not necessarily saying these were the “best” because that’s practically impossible; there is a lot of great music from this decade. This is just to give you a taste of some good old songs you might have forgotten. Don’t let the titles of the songs fool you– make sure you actually listen to it (I was skeptical of the list I put together at first). And even if you still don’t remember the songs, there is nothing like a classic 80′s music video!

Physical” is my favorite music video out of these, but most of the rest are tied for 2nd. Check out how different George Michael looks from “Careless Whisper” to “Faith.” Oh and of course… Prince in a bathtub?!

Which 80′s songs  or music videos were your favorite? Personally I would have to say “Girl’s just want to have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper haha.

1980-Blondie: Call Me

1981- Kim Carnes: Bette Davis Eyes

1982- Olivia Newton-John: Physical

1983- Police: Every Breath You Take

1984- Prince & The Revolution: When Doves Cry

1985- George Michael: Careless Whisper

1986- Dionne Warwick & Friends: That’s What Friends Are For

1987- Bangles: Walk Like an Egyptian

1988- George Michael: Faith

1989- Chicago: Look Away

this article does not contain reference to peter gabriel – specifically, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqyc37aOqT0 THIS SONG. I consider this a serious blunder but overall it pretty much rocks SOOOOOO I will give this blog post an A-.

  2. [...] 80’s Music – I think it’s safe to say I know all the words to these songs. My generation is obsessed with 80s music, which is funny because most of us were born during the 80s. I embrace my own obsession. I used to go to Q’s 80s night in Santa Barbara in college, and even sported 80s spandex, bright colors and hairstyles. [...]
